As you may or may not know, I am a writer (among other things). Professionally, I write about many aspects of the world around us. In particular, I write about sustainability, energy use, and the climate, frequently on behalf of large companies that care about managing their risks and complying with laws and regulations. I also write quite a lot about technology, mostly for industry and trade magazines.
Just as importantly, I write things that nobody pays me for, almost always driven by my own curiosity. There is, unsurprisingly, substantial overlap between writing I haven’t been paid for and writing that no one has read, and when I think about it, I realize that I’ve probably written far more words that haven’t been read than words that have. And while some things are private, of course, I think this has more to do with self-consciousness and uncertainty, as well as things like priority management and structure.
The site you’re visiting now is part of an effort to change that. I want more people to be able to read my writing, and I’d like to write more things that people are interested in reading. I'm grateful to the person (JP) who highly recommended publishing my own website (and whose own site and writing are a big inspiration). If you spend much time here -- or if you subscribe -- you'll probably see some of the following, among other odds and ends:
updates about the book I'm currently writing (more on this coming soon)
reflections on my creative processes, and on creativity more generally
illustrations and doodles that I draw in my spare time
I warmly welcome you to this space and look forward to sharing with you.
